We love to create things.
Christmas is the theme—at least for now.
The name Rowen Red Thread comes from our Scottish and German ancestry. We were born with Rowen as our sirname. The rowan tree and its berries were considered to bring good luck in Celtic, Scandanavian, and Germanic cultures (in the U.S., we call it the mountain ash). In ancient Scotland, rowan trees were planted next to homes to bring good luck and good luck charms were made from two equal length twigs held together in the center with a red thread hanging from a strand of rowan berries. We like to think our little creations will bring you and your family good luck too.
Recycle. Reuse. Repurpose. When possible, we repurpose fabrics that are clean and in good condition. Wood is reclaimed or rescued scraps from area woodworkers. Spools are vintage, and buttons are too.
